THE A380 FLIGHT CONTROL ELECTROHYDROSTATIC ACTUATORS, ACHIEVEMENTS AND LESSONS LEARNT

Control surfaces of transport airplanes are traditionnally hydraulically powered. The new aircraft generation features a mixed flight control power source distribution, associating electric actuators with conventional hydraulic servocontrols. This paper reviews drivers for this evolution, the selected electrical actuator technology, the achieved A380 electrohydrostatic actuator performance and highlights lessons learnt.
