IMPROVEMENT OF THE SOUND TRANSMISSION LOSS OF PANELS BY MEANS OF ACOUSTICALLY TUNED RESONATORS

The sound transmitted through a panel can be reduced by means of acoustically tuned resonators. A one-dimensional model is developed and calculations show that large gains in transmission loss are obtained compared to the normal incidence mass law. Transmission loss measurements on two different resonator panels show the same trends.
