Keywords: composite structures, finite element analysis, optimisation

By utilising innovative techniques during the design of a composite structure, finite element analysis can be more fully employed. Cost effective and reliable methods for the optimisation and analysis of composite control surfaces have been explored. It has been shown that it is possible to improve the design process, resulting in a shorter design cycle and improved optimum.
