Product family concept has been a key aspect in airplane manufacturer long-term strategy. They can make aggressive product differentiation using common product platforms and design commonalities. Airplane configurations can be rapidly modified to meet market demand in time with minimum development cost. This paper outlines an analysis of various airplanes designed based upon common design concepts.
