ILU PRECONDITIONED MULTI-MODEL FORMULATION FOR COMPRESSIBLE FLOWS ON 3D UNSTRUCTURED MESHES

A preconditioned multi-model formulation for three dimensional compressible flows is presented. The goal is to minimize the overall computational time and memory required to simulate the flow by using locally selected, more computational efficient physical models without sacrificing the global fidelity of the simulation. The novelty in this paper is the use of an incomplete LU factorization applied to precondition, at each pseudo-time, the system derived from the multi-model formulation.
